Aliens and Predators
Breathtaking.

“That’s how Michael Fassbender describes what it feels like to walk onto the set of Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, which is currently three weeks into shooting.

“‘I walk on the set and I feel like I’m walking on a spaceship. It’s breathtaking. All the various panels and screens and it’s just dealing with a top-notch art department and carpenters and the riggers and everything that goes into putting that together. It’s just, well, breathtaking, all of it.’”

“I like the fight at the end very much… The Alien Queen is very complicated, like the way I would have done. I like how she moves, and the scenes with Ripley are very good.”

HR Giger, Sci-Fi Invasion! 1998.
Very gracious of him, given that he was not invited to participate in the film

She came from a family of fliers, people in this business. A space family rather than an army family… Nothing fazes her, and if it does you’d never know it. Ripley was pretty inexperienced, this was the biggest job she’d had. She was by-the-book because of the inexperience. In the course of the story, she has to go from earnest infant to full-on survival mode - like an animal.

“This stunt alone, crawling out of the wall space aboard the Narcissus, took many hours and takes to shoot, ripped several suits, and exhausted Bolaji Badejo: ‘I remember I had to repeat that action for about fifteen takes. Finally, I said, “No more!” There was a lot of smoke, it was hard to breathe, and it was terribly hot.’ Due to the rigidity of the suit, many other athletic scenes were scrapped.”

And as far as the “Predator” title, I didn’t reference any of the other later [AVP] pictures, only because when I originally wrote this, those didn’t exist. I was writing this always as a sequel. In fact, “Predator 2” had come out, but they didn’t want to go that direction, they wanted to get Arnold back. So when I wrote “Predators,” it was to forget that even “Predator 2” was made. This is going to be “Aliens” was to “Alien,” that’s what “Predators” is to “Predator,” so I’ll just tie those two together, so all you would ever have to do is watch “Predator” and “Predators,” and you would have a little complete thing. So, yeah, what would the third one be if there was a third one? It would be “Predator 3,” I guess. [laughter] No, “Predators 2.” [laughter] I don’t know. “Predators” with a subtitle.

Predator3 perhaps?

But it should not open by killing off the surviving characters from Predators.

So erotic…it’s big vaginas and penises…the whole thing is like you’re going inside of some sort of womb or whatever…it’s sort of visceral.

I didn’t want to have eyes because it makes the monster more dangerous.
It’s more scary, because you’d never know where the monster is looking.
